This week's Wildcat Wednesday features another one of our retirees, Carl Gersten. Mr. Gersten has been a math teacher at YHS for 13 years and we will definitely miss his humor around here. One piece of advice he has for all of us is to put our phones down ππΌ We may end up seeing him back in the halls of YHS next year as a substitute teacher (which will make our goodbye a teensy bit more manageable). Mr. Gersten, thank you for everything you have taught us and please know you will be missed. Enjoy your retirement πΎ
This week's Wildcat Wednesday features one of this year's retirees, Mary Mace. Mrs. Mace has been an Ed Tech at YHS for 17 years and her smiling face is something we will miss seeing every day. Our fingers (and toes) are crossed that she will return to be a substitute teacher next year (it makes this goodbye a little easier). Mrs. Mace, thank you for everything you have done for all of us Wildcats and enjoy your retirement. You will be missed dearly πΎ
YHS Yearbook Dedication ... Congratulations to Frank Norton!! A well-deserved honor πΎ
Foods II Chopped final lab! Surprise ingredients: capers, pretzels, and shredded coconut for one group. Barbecue sauce, onion soup mix, and graham crackers for the other. Students needed to be very creative with this one. Congratulations to Thomas, Otto, and Theo for being crowned "Chopped Champions" and for earning all of the bragging rights that come with the title. Thanks to our judges, Emily, Neil, Ms. Grant, and Mrs. Costello!
Thank you, YHS Alum, Nick Eaton ('13) [ @Nick_eaton_lifeinfocus ], for joining Mr. Rosenberg's Broadcast Media class via Google Meet to talk with students about shooting sports and working as a video professional. He makes surf videos as well as shoots sports and weddings/events.
York High School Concert Band is performing its Spring Concert on Tuesday, May 16, at 7 p.m. in the York Community Auditorium. We'd love to see you there!
This week's Wildcat Wednesday highlights our amazing staff at YHS. We are so incredibly fortunate to have each and every one of them working with our students. We felt there was no better group to honor during STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK than this group πΎ
It's STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK, Wildcats πΎ Let's show all of our staff members how much they mean to us and how lucky we are to have them at YHS.
Thank you to our wonderful nutrition staff at YHS. We are so fortunate to have them feeding us every day. You TRULY are superheroes, Shelley, Deb, Sam, Diane, and Angela! Be sure to stop by and say thank you today πΎ
At today's SRTC Technical Advisory Committee meeting, superintendents were invited to bring guests from their districts to have conversations and lunch with students who attend SRTC. A big thank you to Dilyana Djenkova ('23), Lucian Young ('23), Olivia Lewis ('23), and Jasper Witham ('23) for representing YHS students at SRTC πΎ

Thank you @yhsecoclub and Mr. Cleary for organizing a school-wide campus cleanup this morning. Please head over to their page to vote for which Pride should win the Bagel Basket prize! Way to go, Wildcats πΎ
Congratulations to Maxine Adelson ('25), Greta Yauch ('23), and Sienna Hilbourne ('23) for being selected to participate in the District I Honors Jazz Festival. Congratulations! We are so proud of you πΎ
It's officially open!! The Pathways "Zen Den" has been created to offer a community space for all of the students in the program to use when they need help focusing, managing overwhelming situations, or just need a place to decompress. This has been a semester-long project that has been worked on in their math classes. Students used systems of equations to compare prices and geometry to determine how everything could fit in the room. The students are proud (as they should be) of this space and Pathways Teacher, Christine Caprio, stated "it took a lot of sustained effort" to get the room open. Congratulations and we are so proud of the work put in to make this an awesome space πΎ
Macy Young ('23) entered a contest to be included in an anthology of high school poetry from across the United States. A sonnet she wrote for her AP Literature class, "My Silver Lining", was selected to be included. We are so proud of Macy πΎ
Welcome Back, Wildcats! I hope you all had the BEST break. Just in case you need a reminder ... today is a BLUE day. Can't wait to see you all (oh and first block begins at 7:50 which means you should be in the building before 7:48!!) πΎ
