Student presenting ELO

On Friday, January 19, six YHS students presented in the first Extended Learning Opportunities (ELO) expo. These students selected topics that sparked an interest in them and have spent the semester working to answer their essential questions.

There are four major types of ELOs: interest-based, career exploration, internship, or work study. Students have worked closely with our ELO Coordinator, Jess Pinette.

Haydn Forbes, building a surfboard with his grandfather and learning about intergenerational work experiences.

Kent Hermawan, studying Japanese culture and working to learn the language.

Sophia Kellogg, learned about forensic science because of an interest she had in the field and even spoke to a woman who is a forensic scientist.

Olivia Coite and Meghan Daly, have spent the semester creating a memorable video for the  Class of 2024.

Autumn Brown, has been studying Chinese culture and language.

If you are interested in learning more about scheduling an ELO, please reach out to Ms. Pinette (jpinette@yorkschools.org). We could not be more proud of these students who shared their experiences and learning with their peers and teachers. It's not an easy task and we look forward to seeing their projects continue.
