In order to be eligible to apply, students needed to have a cumulative (unweighted) GPA of at least 93%, write an essay about how service and leadership opportunities have played an essential role in their high school career, and were tasked with submitting a letter of recommendation from an adult who knows them well and was able to speak to their leadership, service, and character.
A committee of five teachers and the NHS advisor met to select new members. The selection committee follows nationally set guidelines in selecting the candidates that best exemplify the qualities of scholarship, leadership, character, and service. Neither current members of the NHS nor the NHS advisor have a vote in selecting new members.
