Gap Year

Students may also choose to take a Gap Year, a break from a traditional educational program, before they begin their studies at a two or four-year college. Gap Year options include foreign and domestic travel, volunteer service programs such as City Year and Americorps, skill development in athletics, academics, or the arts, internships, or employment. To make the college transition easier, students often apply for college during their senior year and then defer their admission for a year.
