There are two ways in which students will apply to colleges and universities - the Common Application or a school’s own online application. In September counselors work with seniors in their Prides to help them create a Common App account and introduce them to the application process. If a school does not accept the Common Application, students will need to go directly to the school’s admissions website, create an account, and fill out their online application.
Some students at YHS apply to college under an early plan. There are three main types of early application plans. All three plans usually require students to apply in October or November. All the plans give an early decision about acceptance; students will know in December or January if they have been accepted. Other parts of the plan vary by college, so students should talk with your counselor ahead of time to make sure they understand the rules.
